Ozark season 3: Laura Linney made co-star 'a better actor' during filming

by

Ozark star Tom Pelphery has admitted that working with Laura Linney in the third season of the Netflix drug drama made him ‘a better actor.’

Pelphery portrayed Wendy Byrde’s (Linney) brother Ben Davis, who played a pivotal role in Wendy’s descent into darkness during the show’s third series.

Ozark follows the story of Wendy and her husband Marty (Jason Bateman), a seemingly ordinary married couple who run a casino for a Mexican drug cartel.

Speaking to PopCulture.com, Pelphery explained that he had admired Linney and her work ‘for a really long time,’ but getting to act alongside her was the icing on the cake of his Ozark experience.

‘She’s amazingly generous with her energy and with her focus, and it made working at Ozark a very safe space for me. She’s just a very good human being,’ he said.

‘I credit so much of our on-screen chemistry to the fact that Laura’s just so wonderful. I was excited to be there and excited to get to work with her.’

The actor continued: ‘I knew she would make me a better actor, which she did, and she was just an excellent host.’

But it seems that Pelphery’s time in the Ozarks is over – as in one of the most harrowing moments of the most recent series, Wendy ordered a hit on her own brother after he had become a liability in their partnership with drug lord Navarro.

However, one fan theory suggests that nothing is as it seems.

But, as one fan pointed out on Reddit, we never actually saw Ben’s murder take place, and this could have big consequences.

User Codan04 explained: ‘The show thrives on showing us the demise of the characters we love.’

Could this be a clue that Ben was never actually murdered, but instead his death was faked as a way for Wendy and husband Marty (Jason Bateman) to prove their loyalty to Navarro?

However, whether we’ll see this plot twist play out is another thing entirely – as star Bateman has admitted that Netflix hasn’t renewed the show for a fourth season yet.

Ozark is available to stream now via Netflix.
