Shanghai Shenhua set to end Odion Ighalo's Man United loan

by

Despite Manchester United's wish to keep Odion Ighalo at Old Trafford beyond the end of his current loan deal, the Nigerian striker is set to be recalled by Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

While English top flight football could resume under the Premier League's 'Project Restart', talks between United and Shenhua about extending Ighalo's Old Trafford stay have stalled.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed the 30-year-old on a temporary deal in January and it's set to expire on May 31.

Ighalo has been a huge hit at United.

He scored four goals in the club's last five matches, including a superb volley in the Europa League victory over LASK.

Shenhua want Ighalo back as the Chinese Super League is also expected to start next month, delayed from its usual February start.

Ighalo is understood to be looking to extend his stay in England but he could have little choice in the matter of Shenhua don't budge on the matter.

“Odion has done really well – we need those qualities for next season so let’s see,” Solskjaer said in March.
