Woman in coma after being raped and left for dead in pool of blood yards from home

A man is accused of raping a woman and leaving her lying in her own blood just yards from her home.

In a video of the attack a man can be seen riding his bike towards the victim's home and stopping when she steps outside.

They speak for a minute before he grabs her and places her in a chokehold.

He then wrestles the 64-year-old woman to the ground where he sexually assaulted her.

Before cycling away the man washes his hands in a bottle of soap he was carrying.

A witness called the police after seeing her lying on the floor in her blood and feces, the New York Post reported.

The victim was put in a medical coma and has not yet spoken to police, The Sun reported.

Frankie Harris, 38, of Bushwick, has been charged with attempted murder, rape and sexual abuse in connection to the assault.

Rodney Harrison, the New York Police Department's chief of detectives, tweeted: "Great investigative work done by 23 Squad, Manhattan North Homicide, and Manhattan Special Victims for apprehending and arresting Frankie Harris.

"Harris has been charged with Attempted Murder and Rape for the vicious attack and sexual assault on a 64-year-old woman in East Harlem."
