In a statement issued by All Pakistan Petroleum Retailers Association member Sameer Najmul Hussain, it is said that petrol pumps at various places in Karachi have been closed down due to depletion of petrol stocks.
The member said that the supply of fuel from oil marketing companies has been affected and the government should take immediate notice of this crisis.
In reply, a statement issued by Pakistan State Oil (PSO) spokesperson said that continued supply of all petroleum products is being ensured and 6.5 million liters of petroleum products have been provided at retail outlets during the last three days.
He said that during the past few days, 80% more than the daily average sales are being observed. He assured that PSO still has a satisfactory stock of petroleum products and there is no possibility of fuel shortage.
The spokesman said that continuous supply of fuel was being ensured at all petrol pumps and PSO is procuring as per quota petroleum products from local refineries.
He further said that according to the Sindh government’s directive, petrol pumps are closed at 5 pm while fuel is supplied uninterruptedly from 8 am to 5 pm.Â
