Vivo has made a promise earlier this year of filling the market with more 5G handsets in different price ranges. A few months ago, thinking about a sub $300 5G smartphones was something that looked like a distant dream. However, that is happening now, as more and more affordable 5G devices are reaching the market. Now, Vivo has a new device for its Y-series featuring 5G connectivity, a triple-camera setup, and an affordable price tag. The said device is dubbed Vivo Y70s and ships with the Exynos 880 SoC.

Vivo Y70s 5G specifications

Under the hood, we have Samsung’s newest Octa-Core platform. The Exynos 880 is based on an 8nm process featuring two Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.0Ghz alongside six small A55 cores working at 1.8Ghz. We have a Penta-core Mali-G76 GPU ensuring that games will run smoothly. These specifications are built around a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display with a punch-hole cutout in the top-left corner housing a 16MP selfie shooter.

Moving around to the back we have a triple camera array. It comprises a 48MP main camera plus an 8MP ultrawide shooter and 2MP depth module. Vivo is sticking with the growing trend of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner to keep the rear part clean. The handset draws power from a 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast-charging.

Interestingly enough, the Vivo Y70s is currently listed on pre-order in China. The official sales will start on June 1. The handset is available in Black, Blue, and White color options. Users will have to opt between the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version that retails at CNY 1,998 (~$279). Moreover, there’s a variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage with CNY 2,198 ($308) price tag.

Unfortunately, there’s still no evidence that this smartphone will reach global markets.
