In 2015, Bleacher Report ran a list of some of football's most arrogant players, and had five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo in at No. 1. The publication called him the "the king of arrogance in world football", saying not even "(Diego) Maradona or Pele could compete with Ronaldo's unique brand of self-love".
Ronaldo, of course, has the trophy cabinet and ability to back up his supreme sense of confidence, although he has been accused of going slightly too far at times. In 2017, after claiming his fifth Ballon d'Or, the then-Real Madrid man said: "I've never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that."
While there are many who would agree with him, the Juventus striker is not often regarded as the greatest player of all time, although the way he sees himself might be one of the reasons for his incredible success.

Another footballer who has been called arrogant is former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who, like Ronaldo, has been able to back it up. Earlier this year, Mainz forward Jean-Philippe Mateta claimed the Swede is up there with the best players in the world, but said the "whole arrogant thing" does not interest him.
Italy attacker Mario Balotelli is also considered to be in this mould of player, as is former FC Barcelona forward Neymar, along with Robinho, who, upon his exit from Manchester City in 2010, said: "I am a special footballer and I need to be happy when I'm playing."
9 Stars Forced To Move Clubs Because Of Ronaldo
In 2006, former Egypt striker Mido was thrown out of his country's Africa Cup of Nations team following a fallout with the coaching staff, and had a few things to say that earned him a place in our list. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur man accused the entire organisation of being amateurs, saying: "People can call me an arrogant Premiership player. The fact is that I am a Premiership player and they are amateurs."
