There were no fresh coronavirus cases reported in Derby in the last 24 hours, Public Health England said.

The figure remained the same as yesterday at 579.

In Derbyshire, there were eight more confirmed cases of the virus, up to 1,662 since the pandemic started.

Staffordshire also saw an increase of 13 cases, up to 2,196 from yesterday's figure of 2,183.

Two more deaths have sadly been reported by the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, taking its death toll to 467.

At Chesterfield Royal Hospital, there were no more deaths recorded. The total number of deaths there remains at 116.

The Department of Health said: "As of 5pm on 24 May, of those tested positive for coronavirus, across all settings, 36,914 have sadly died."
