Kulgam gunfight: No collateral damage, arms and ammunition recovered, says IGP

Due to the efforts of police and joint forces, two militants were killed in Kulgam, says IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
 
"It was a clean operation and no collateral damage took place during the gunbattle," he said.
 
As per police statement, during the intervening night of 24/25 May 2020, on a specific input a cordon & search operation was launched jointly by Kulgam police, 34 RR and CRPF 18 Bn.
 
During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the joint search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an gunbattle.
 
In the ensuing battle, 02 unidentified militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of gunbattle. The identification and affiliation of the killed militants is being ascertained.
 
Incriminating material including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of gunfight. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other crimes.
 
 
In this connection case FIR No. 25/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in police station Manzgam and investigation has been initiated.
 
People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any.
