A carer was left in floods of tears by a B&M shopper who berated her for "spreading germs" because she was wearing her uniform.

Key worker Kimberley Simpson wrote a tearful post on Facebook claiming she was verbally accosted by a fellow shopper at the store.

Kimberley, from Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, said she had spent the afternoon crying following the exchange which took place at the bargain store.

The video starts with an upset Kimberley shouting at the woman who stands behind her shopping trolley, saying: "I am filming you because you are having a go at me for buying stuff."

The woman calmly replies: "I'm not having a go. I'm asking you why..."

Kimberley interrupts and says: "You just said that I am buying stuff that's non-essential stuff."

Kimberley continues: "You are absolutely ridiculous you should not have come up to me aggressively like that, saying I am spreading germs."

The woman retorts, pointing at Kimberley: "You are, you are. You are still spreading germs, I am not talking about Covid..."

A bemused Kimberley then says: "What so I am not allowed to go in anywhere even before Corona?"

The woman replies: "No, no you are not."

Astonished shoppers watch on as the altercation continues with the woman threatening to speak with Kimberley's manager.

Kimberley took to Facebook about the ordeal, which has since gone viral

Kimberley posted the clip following the exchange, along with a picture of her tear-stained face.

She shared the video with the caption: "I know I'm an ugly crier, but this lady has just followed me around B&M shouting at me saying I'm not allowed in the shop because I'm in uniform.

"Apparently I'm not allowed to buy non-essential items, (how does she know I'm not doing clients shopping).

"Apparently I spread germs before and after Corona, and she's reporting me to my manager who I've just spoken to, and they said I'm not doing anything wrong.

"We have worked so hard, no clients have Covid-19 so we are clearly doing something right.

"She shouted at me for a good 10 minutes before I decided to film her because she was following me.

"No staff in the shop helped me, no one stuck up for me, a Polish couple told me not to cry bless them and said she's stupid.

"I feel really disgusted at this lady's behaviour, I have done nothing wrong."

The video has since gone viral with over 35,000 reactions and 25,000 comments.

Many in the comments have hit out at the woman for confronting Kimberley.

Carole Thorpe added: "Absolutely disgusting behaviour, she isn't worthy of you and all you and your colleagues do. This has brought me to tears.

And Steven Waple said: "That's unbelievable, but not surprising nowadays as some very nasty people about with no respect for anyone but themselves, keep up the good work hun and stay safe."
