Doja Cat Apologizes For Racist Slur Song And More Controversy After Backlash!
by Nick MarkusThe star took to social media to address and apologize for an older song in which she used racial slurs after backlash! #DojaCatIsOverParty has been trending on Twitter!
The rapper and singer was accused of being part of some racist video chats online as well as writing a song titled ‘Dindu Nuffin’ which is a racist slur used to make fun of survivors of police brutality.
The song was apparently written by Doja back in 2015 and it just resurfaced, getting her in hot water.
The celeb released a statement in which she apologized and also denied ever saying anything racist in a chat room.
In the letter she posted on her Instagram, she wrote: ‘I have used public chat rooms to socialize since I was just a child. I should not have been on some of those chat room sites, but I have never been involved personally in any racist conversations. I am sorry to everyone I offended.’
As for the controversial song she made in 2015, she explained that: ‘I’m a black woman. Half my family is black from South Africa and I am very proud of where I come from. As for the old song that has resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my personal experience. It was written in response to people who used that term to hurt me. I made an attempt to flip the meaning, but I recognize that it was a bad decision to use that term in my music.’
Doja Cat went on to stress that she is well aware of how much influence and impact she has on others in her role as a public person and entertainer.
She assured everyone that is exactly why she is taking the backlash very seriously.
She concluded her letter by telling fans she loves them and apologizing once again for upsetting so many people, adding: ‘That’s not my character, and I’m determined to show that to everyone moving forward. Thank you.’
