Spider-Man for PS4 listed as free for PlayStation Plus users
by Michael BeckwithThe PS4 Spider-Man game could be free in June for PlayStation Plus users, according to the PlayStation Store itself.
Recently, Epic Games offered Grand Theft Auto 5 for free on its Epic Games Store, a deal that was so popular, it temporarily crashed the store itself.
Now it looks like it might be Sony’s turn to offer an incredibly popular and highly regarded triple-A game for free, as spotted by VG247.
The game in question is Insomniac’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4. If you go to the UK PlayStation Store, you’ll see it being sold at its usual £34.99.
When you click to add it to your basket, you are then given the choice between the standard edition and the digital deluxe edition, which comes packaged with the post-game City That Never Sleeps story DLC.
The digital deluxe edition is still full price at £44.99, but the standard edition, for some reason, is listed as being free for PlayStation Plus users and only £7.99 for everyone else.
This doesn’t mean you can get the game for that cheap or for free now, as continuing to checkout reverts it back to its usual price.
As for why this has happened, it’s possible that Sony is intending to offer Spider-Man as a free game for PlayStation Plus users next month in June.
There is always the possibility, however, that this is simply a glitch. According to this Reddit thread, this could simply be the result of the game being added to PlayStation Now, as many are saying that they have seen this happen before with other games.
Sony did announce earlier today that one of the free PlayStation Plus titles for June will Call Of Duty: World War 2 and will be made available tomorrow on 26 May.
But as for Spider-Man, we’ll probably have to wait until later this week or the beginning of June to find out.
Spider-Man is available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
