Manchester United given boost over signing £40m-rated France star

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Bayern Munich star Corentin Tolisso have been given a boost after reports that the Bundesliga giants are ready to cash in on the midfielder.

The Frenchman turned down the Red Devils for Bayern in 2017 when he joined the German club in a £40million deal from Lyon.

Tolisso was a mainstay for the club in his debut campaign but he’s managed just 15 league appearances across the last two seasons.

The midfielder, 25, is no longer willing to bide his time on the sidelines and that’s alerted Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add a central midfielder to his squad and the Red Devils explored a deal for Tolisso during the January transfer window, only to focus their attention on the more attack-minded Bruno Fernandes.

However, according to Bild correspondent Christian Falk, Bayern are now happy to cash in on the midfielder as they believe he could raise some much-needed funding for the summer transfer market.

Though negotiations between Bayern and United are not ongoing, Tolisso could well be viewed as a more affordable option than Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

The 24-year-old could fetch as much as £80m in the market if the club manage to avoid relegation and United are now unlikely to sanction such a deal given the coronavirus pandemic’s effect on the club’s finances.
