Pamela Anderson 'didn't like' Dwayne Johnson's Baywatch remake
by Zara WoodcockPamela Anderson has admitted that she ‘didn’t like’ Dwayne Johnson’s big-screen remake of Baywatch.
The actress starred in the original series, which aired from 1989 to 2001, and reckons it should have stayed as ‘bad TV’.
Speaking on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the 52-year-old explained: ‘I didn’t like it. Let’s just keep the bad TV as bad TV. That’s what’s charming about Baywatch, you know?
‘Trying to make these movies out of television is just messing with it.’
Pamela also reckons the 2017 movie’s $65 million (£53.3m) budget was unnecessary as the original series was all about creativity.
‘$65m would make a good movie,’ she added. ‘We made our show for like $500,000 (£410,000) – you have the same explosions, the same sequences of water.
‘That’s the fun part; being creative.’
Sorry, Dwayne, you can’t please everyone, especially the original star.
Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra and Kelly Rohrbach – who played Pamela’s character – also starred in the comedy.
The film even received a Golden Razzie award in 2018 for being so bad it was good, and The Rock took full responsibility for it.
After the film came out, the Jumanji actor revealed the award was popped through the letterbox.
‘Categorized as — A movie so rotten and shitty, you actually fell in love with it. Hey, I take full responsibility for the 💩? so punch me right in the kisser for that one,’ he wrote on Instagram at the time.
Give it a decade and we can reboot the the remake of the series.
