Ashley Cole claims Arsenal fans 'can't handle the truth' in Twitter rant over Chelsea transfer

Arsenal academy graduate Ashley Cole left the North London side in controversial circumstances to join rivals Chelsea

Ashley Cole has hit out at Arsenal fans who 'can't handle the truth' after his latest comments explaining his reasons behind leaving the Gunners.

An academy graduate in North London, Cole established himself as a fan favourite at Highbury but burned his bridges with the club with a high-profile exit to join Chelsea in 2006.

That came off the back of a lengthy transfer saga, where Cole and Chelsea were both fined following illegal contact between the two parties regarding a transfer.

Cole later hit out at the Arsenal hierarchy in an autobiography, claiming he was made to be a 'scapegoat', and has endured a frosty relationship with fans since.

The former England international spoke again recently about the reasons behind his decision to move to one of Arsenal's greatest rivals, stating his belief that the club was losing its core following other high-profile departures.

Now, after being criticised by fans once again on social media, Cole has hit out - suggesting that some Arsenal fans 'can't handle the truth'.

"What are u talking about, when did I ever say that? Yes ultimately the discussion we fell out over was about money, yes but I left because people dangled something in front of me then took it away, then tried to make it all my fault that’s why. Simple," his first post read.

"There are lots of reasons but you and some arsenal fans can’t handle the truth, or don’t want to hear it," he added in a second post.

"Then go ask the other people involved and ask them what happened and truths," he replied to one fan who said millions of fans around the world would be interested in hearing the truth.
