Mercury expected to climb above 30 C by Friday in Kamloops
by Steve ArstadKamloops residents will have to endure at least one more day of showers before an improving weather picture is expected to bring daytime highs as around the 30 degree mark.
It’s shaping up to be an odd week weather-wise in Kamloops as daily high temperatures move slowly upward as the week progresses, with alternating days of a sun and cloud mix, sun, clouds and more sun and cloud mix.
The rest of the country is finally moving into more summer-like weather as temperatures start to climb back east in Ontario after several weeks of unsettled, wet and cool weather in that province. The Weather Network says parts of southern Ontario will feel close to 40 C due to rising temperatures and humidity expected this week. Two weeks ago the province was experiencing record low May temperatures and late season snow.
Environment Canada says the showers in Kamloops will end this afternoon, May 25, giving way to cloudy conditions and a high of 20 C. Southeast winds at 20 km/h should become light this evening, with a low down to 10 C.
Tuesday should see increasing cloudiness in the morning with a high of 20 C and a low of 8 C.
A mainly sunny day is in store Wednesday with a high of 24 C and a low of 11 C.
A high of 27 C and a low of 15 C is expected Thursday under cloudy skies, but Friday should see a sun and cloud mix as the temperature climbs to 31 C, along with an overnight low of 15 C.
A mix of sun and cloud is in store for the weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 30 C and 29 C.
Monday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29 C.
Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 23 C and lows of 9 C.
