The Last of Us Part II will be the subject of the next State of Play, taking place Wednesday

Sony has announced its next State of Play broadcast will be taking place on Wednesday May 27th at 9pm BST/10pm CEST, and that The Last of Us Part II will be the subject it focuses on. The broadcast will last for almost 25 minutes and in it Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us Part II’s director, will be talking about the game, the threats players will face, and the world of the game in general. In addition, there will be a never before seen section of The Last of Us Part II to close out the broadcast. Sony has also stated there will be no news about the PS5 during the broadcast. You will be able to watch The Last of Us Part II State of Play through either YouTube or Twitch.

There have already been a couple of videos about The Last of Us Part II. The other day a video about The Last of Us Part II’s major gameplay changes was released by Naughty Dog.

At first glance there may not appear to be too much difference between the original game and this sequel. However, Ellie is smaller and more nimble, the gameplay reflecting this. The Last of Us Part II will feature a jump button that can be used to navigate environments more dynamically than simply vaulting the occasional knee-high wall here and there.

This adds a sense of verticality to exploration and combat that wasn’t there before. Ellie can also dodge melee attacks and crawl through tight spaces by ducking into a prone position. This is particularly useful during those stealthier sections of the sequel.

Those survival elements from The Last of Us are still prevalent here, with some bonus refinements. Players are encouraged to scour every inch of their surroundings for items such as supplements and scrap which can be used to enhance Ellie’s abilities while improving her arsenal of weapons.

The Last of Us Part II will be released for PS4 on June 19th.
