Ryan Reynolds joins Taika Waititi for a live reading of 'James and the Giant Peach'
by Adam RosenbergIf you're looking for a dose of wholesome to brighten your lockdown Memorial Day, look no further than author Roald Dahl's official home on YouTube, Roald Dahl HQ.
For the past week, filmmaker Taika Waititi (director of Thor: Ragnarok, among others) has been staging a live reading of Dahl's beloved book, James and the Giant Peach. He's had celebrity help every step of the way, from the Hemsworth brothers (plus Nick Kroll) to freaking Meryl Streep and Benedict Cumberbatch.
But it's Waititi's latest guest that will excite Mashable readers. None other than Deadpool star and Aviation Gin hypeman Ryan Reynolds lent his dulcet tones to the series' fifth episode. Just be warned: we're picking up in the middle of the book here, so you might want to go back and listen to the others first if narrative continuity is important to you.
Like many other celebrity-laden streams that are happening these days, this Roald Dahl reading aims to do some good in the world. The 10-episode series aims to help raise money for Partners in Health by matching donations from fans.
