Karnataka Students Can Give SSLC Board Exams In Kerala And Goa Too For Safety Reasons

The SSLC exams in Karnataka will be conducted for a period of 10 days, from 25 June to 4 July with a day’s gap each between the four papers of English, Math, Science and Social Science.

Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar had a day ago announced the dates for the SSLC examinations, which had been postponed owing to the pandemic and the lockdown.

Today, the department also announced that students will be permitted to change their exam centres in order to prevent travel and risking student health in the times of the pandemic.

Students who are stuck in different places owing to the lockdown can identify any exam centre near their current place of residence and write to their headmasters and get their centres shifted.

As some of the students have moved to their native towns, and may not be able to come back owing to lack of accommodation facilities, the Karnataka State Education Examination Board has made these provisions.

Also, those students living at the state borders or in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Goa too would be able to answer the papers in the two states as Karnataka would be setting up exam centres for students from two coastal districts of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada.

Goa has granted its approval for the same, while permission from Kerala is awaited.

Since students from Kerala’s Kasaragod come to Dakshina Kannada and those studying in Kannada medium schools in the border districts of Goa come to Karwar, the government is facilitating their exam writing in their hometowns to avoid risking travel.

The state has been taking all the required measures to ensure hygiene and safety at the 2,789 exam centres across the state that will see 8.4 lakh students in attendance.
