BGT's 10-year-old singer recalls how she felt when Simon Cowell stopped audition
by Abbie BrayBritain’s Got Talent’s 10-year-old singer Souparnika Nair has recalled the moment Simon Cowell stopped her audition when she was half-way through the song.
Souparnika also known as Sal, took to the stage on Saturday night’s BGT to sing Judy Garland’s The Trolley Song.
Although just as she began to sing, the music mogul held his hand up in the air to stop her performance.
Simon told Sal that he didn’t ‘love the song’, but gave her the opportunity to sing something else.
Speaking about that moment, Sal told Metro.co.uk: ‘I was a bit surprised, but it turned out fine in the end.’
After the 10-year-old from Bury St Edmonds was given a second chance, she went on to sing Never Enough by Loren Allred, from The Greatest Showman.
And it was incredible.
The starlet not only got a standing ovation, but she received amazing feedback from the judges.
David Walliams told her: ‘That is a mountain of a song, and you conquered it.’
‘I cannot get my head around that you’re 10 years old standing up there like a little professional,’ Alesha continued.
While Simon simply added: ‘I’ve got to be honest with you, you absolutely nailed it. You’re a gutsy little thing, you really are.’
Talking about the judges’ comments Sal added: ‘Getting such good comments gave me a confidence boost and it made me smile because people smiled all around me.
‘To have a standing ovation on BGT was one of my biggest dreams.’
Sourparnika is not shy of the spotlight either, as she was once the Unexpected Star on Michael McIntyre’s show.
But she hopes that BGT will give her the opportunity to show off her talent.
And we agree with Simon, you absolutely nailed it!
Britain’s Got Talent returns next Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
