PLO Lumumba Impresses With Karate Skills [VIDEO]

by

Renowned Kenyan lawyer Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba, on Sunday, May 24, posted a video of himself displaying some impressive karate moves.

Ditching his suit and tie, the former head of the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) - now Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) - donned a white Karategi, complete with a black belt and dazzled with his precise moves.

The distinguished orator started off with a Tiger Claw move, forming his hands into an arc (like a tiger’s or crab’s claw).

The system was modeled after the demeanor and fighting strategy of an attacking tiger and its origins can be traced to a Chinese martial art that has its origins in Hoy Hong Temple, China.

PLO Lumumba then goes on to razzle and dazzle with a series of combination attack moves that include several kicks and punches.

His agility and fluid movement betrayed his experience in the field of martial arts, as he finished his workout with a gentle, a sign of respect practised in the martial arts world.

The video was uploaded on his foundation page - The PLO Lumumba Foundation, drawing over 17,000 views in under 25 hours.

His foundation is aims at nurturing young Africans by conducting mentorship programmes and various youth activities across the continent.

This was not the first time the outspoken lawyer was captured on video, showing off his sleek karate moves.

After replacing Aaron Ringera as Kenya's anti-graft boss in 2010, the outspoken lawyer joined pupils at Loreto Primary School pupils in Mombasa for a choreographed karate display.

The black belt holder fell in love with the art during his days at  Pumwani Secondary School.

"I loved martial arts for the discipline that comes with it and not as a means of physically ‘fixing’ others," he once revealed during an interview.

PLO Lumumba is well known for his public speeches, which are more often than not, heavily laden with colourful quotes and anecdotes, laid out in his own version of the smooth flowing Queen’s English.

More recently, the renowned lawyer made the headlines following a fervent speech which he delivered during a virtual lecture as part of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party online Lecture Series.

South African politician and EFF party leader Julius Malema, was left in awe of the gifted orator.
