A Florida sheriff’s office employee hid a camera in his roommate’s bedroom to spy on her, authorities said.

Llewellyn Berkheiser III, a 28-year-old communication specialist for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, was busted Saturday after his roommate found a GoPro camera in a vent in her bedroom, according to an arrest report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

Berkheiser’s roommate, who was not identified, told deputies she discovered the recording device Friday when she noticed she couldn’t see light in the vent from an adjoining kitchen that was usually visible, deputies said.

Berkheiser told the woman a maintenance man from their apartment complex possibly put the camera there, but the woman checked with building records and found that no employees had been in the apartment since March, according to the arrest report.

Berkheiser later admitted putting the camera in the vent, deputies said. Investigators also seized the camera, Berkheiser’s cellphone and his laptop, the Sentinel reported.

“All Orange County Sheriff’s Office personnel are held to the highest standards of conduct,” Sheriff John Mina told the newspaper in an email. “These allegations will be thoroughly investigated and the results of that investigation will be made public.”

Berkheiser, who has been charged with one count of video voyeurism, joined the law enforcement agency in June 2018. He has been relieved of his duties without pay as internal and criminal investigations are underway, sheriff officials said.
