Varsity Students Fight Against E-Learning

University students have filed an urgent application against the government seeking to have e-learning suspended arguing that it is discriminatory and infringes on their right to education. The students are fighting against e-learning saying that it is unfair since a lot of the students do not have access to smartphones, laptops, internet connectivity and electricity.

iHarare has learned from state media that the lawsuit was filed by the Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) after the Midlands State University (MSU) introduced e-learning without consulting the students and the parents. In the lawsuit, the students are suing the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Amon Murwira and MSU.

In the urgent application which was filed at the High Court, the students are being represented by Harare lawyer Denford Halimani of Wintertons Legal Practitioners.
