Ricciardo also looks at other series: "It would be great to race there"

by

Now that Daniel Ricciardo will be the new man at McLaren from 2021, he may have the opportunity to test out other racing classes. The Bathurst 1000 seems to be on his wish list for some time now.

Bathurst 1000

"People keep asking me which race cars I'd like to try out after my GP career is over. NASCAR? Supercars? Le Mans? I always found the Bathurst 1000, a legendary race, very attractive. It would be great to drive around Mount Panorama", said Ricciardo to Speedweek.com.

With the Australian moving from Renault to McLaren in 2021, the desire to drive the Bathurst 1000 will get a new impulse. Ricciardo's future teammate Lando Norris drove another race in the virtual Supercars series during the corona crisis.

Norris is also open to driving a Supercar: "Absolutely. In fact, McLaren CEO Zak Brown owns a Supercar. We took it to the track a couple of years ago, but I wasn't allowed to drive it then."

Enthusiasm at Zak Brown

Brown himself is also happy to have his drivers compete in other classes on other circuits: "I like to let our guys compete on totally different circuits. So if we can somehow fit a start in Bathurst into our GP program, why not?"
