Amaravati: Terming the donated lands and other properties to Lord Sri Venkateswara of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams as substandard was nothing but an insult to the devotees, stated the Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan in a press release on Monday.
He said that the devotees offered properties to the God not only in southern states but also in northern states. The assets donated with devotion shall not be termed as 'substandard', he maintained. The intention of the donor the day he offered a donation to the Lord shall be used for activities such as temple administration, propagation of dharma, performing religious programmes and other service activities, Jana Sena president observed.
It was an insult to the donor to belittling these assets by stating them as unproductive and substandard, he added.
He asked TTD that where was the need for selling the properties, when it has its own Estate Department to protect these assets. Never there is fund crunch for temple functioning. Many programmes can be organised with the interest accrued on the TTD deposits, he maintained. The devotees continue to offer donations for schemes like Nityannadanam (daily feeding) scheme and others.
