Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 hits Manipur, tremors felt in other northeastern states

Manipur is prone occasional jolts due to its proximity to the Indo-Myanmar Border

A moderate earthquake hit Manipur around 8 pm. Tremors were also felt in other northeastern states lying close to the Indo-Myanmar border. The earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred 15 kilometres west of Moirang in Manipur at a depth of 27.5 km as per data published by Indian Meteorological Department(IMD).

According to the preliminary reports, there were no loss of life and property.
