Kuwait confirms 665 cases, 9 deaths from coornavirus

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Monday registered 665 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the overall infections in the country to 21,967, according to a statement the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health carried by Kuwait News Agency.
The ministry also announced nine more coronavirus-related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 165 so far.
"The newly identified cases were locally transmitted," the Ministry's Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said, noting that the health authorities are monitoring the persons who were in contact with patients.
"These include 148 Kuwaiti citizens, 195 Indian expats, 96 Egyptians and 73 Bangladeshis, the Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.
On the health condition of patients, the spokesman said that there are 15,182 patients who still receive the necessary medical care, including 182 in intensive care units, noting that 2,723 Covid-19 tests, conducted in the last 24 hours, took the overall tests to 273,812.
Dr. Al-Sanad added that 82 persons completed the mandatory quarantine and have to spend a couple of weeks in self-isolation at home.
He reminded the citizens and residents of the need to comply with the public health guidelines, notably the social distancing, and rely on official sources for information and advice.
Earlier in the day, the ministry said that 504 more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of recoveries in the country to 6,621.
“The lab tests affirmed the recovery of those persons, and thereby they will be moved to rehabilitation ward in hospital before being discharged in the coming two days, according to a statement from the ministry.
