Yob Daniel was jailed in January

Prison sources said he was attacked by four lags in the showers on Sunday morning.

The attack is not thought to be linked to ongoing feud between the Daniel and rival mob the Lyons.

A source said: “There was four of them involved - there had been an earlier falling out.

“A couple of other prisoners distracted Robert by chatting while another one stabbed him from behind in the neck.

“It’s thought they used a pen.

“He needed five stitches but he is fine.”

We told how Daniel tried to dodge the drugs charge by claiming his prints were on tubs of cocaine and heroin because he’d eaten pasta from one of the Tupperwares.

He said he tucked into the Italian grub while visiting a pal’s flat.

But a jury rejected his claim after he admitted he couldn’t recall when he ate at Monique McKenna’s home.

Convicted yob Daniel was nailed for supplying drugs and jailed for two years after a £16,000 drug haul was found at the Maryhill pad. The city’s sheriff court heard £9,000 of cocaine and £7,000 of heroin were stashed there.

Six Lyons crew members are serving 104 years for a plot to kill Daniel, of Possilpark, and his cronies in a long-running feud.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.20 am on Monday, 25 May, 2020, police were advised that a 30-year-old man had been injured after being attacked within HMP Barlinnie Prison, Lee Ave, Glasgow, around 10.05 am on Sunday, 24 May, 2020.

"Enquiries are continuing. Prisoner was treated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and discharged back to the prison. Officers are following a positive line of enquiry. "
