Devon and Cornwall MPs stay quiet on actions of Dominic Cummings
Dominic Cummings is due to make a public statement this afternoon after allegations he breached coronavirus lockdown restrictions
by Alex GreenAmid the controversy surrounding Dominic Cummings, the Prime Minister's Senior Aide, none of the MPs that represent the constituencies in Devon and Cornwall have commented on the matter.
We have sent emails to MPs from both counties to request comment on their views on the actions of Dominic Cummings during lockdown, but have so far received no replies.
Twitter has been saturated with opinions both chastising Cummings' actions, and defending them - however Conservative MPs from Devon and Cornwall have kept quiet on the topic on social media.
Luke Pollard, who is the Labour MP for Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport has taken to social media to join those who oppose Cummings' actions.
One tweet from Pollard said: "The Prime Minister has seriously mis-read this situation.
"This isn’t just a Westminster village story - the public anger is real and its personal. It’s one rule for Dominic Cummings and one rule for the rest of us."
Boris Johnson’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings is due to make a public statement this afternoon after allegations he breached coronavirus lockdown restrictions, Downing Street confirmed earlier today.
There have been numerous calls for his resignation after it emerged he travelled to see his parents in Durham to arrange childcare, whilst he and his wife showed symptoms of coronavirus.
Other allegations have also emerged, suggesting he repeatedly flouted lockdown travel rules, including a possible trip to Barnard Castle.

MPs across the UK say they are being flooded with emails from "upset and furious" constituents angered about the Prime Minister's support for top aide Dominic Cummings.
Yesterday Boris Johnson made clear in the daily Downing Street briefing that he supported Mr Cummings' situation amid the allegations.
But it's been alleged that only three Conservative backbench MPs still back Mr Cummings, with some coming out to say the whole situation left them "embarrassed" to have given him their support in the first place.
