5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Manipur; Tremors Felt In Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland And Mizoram

New Delhi: A moderate density earthquake jolted India's northeastern region on Monday evening. As per reports, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit Manipur at around 8 pm today with tremors being felt in other parts of the region including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram.

Initial reports suggest that the epicentre of the earthquake was in Manipur, around 10-12 kms southwest of Kakching district of the state.

"An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit 15 km West of Moirang in Manipur at 20:12 hours today," National Center for Seismology said.

There were no immediate reports of collateral damage, injuries or loss of lives.
