Police investigating assault with intent to rape as woman, 25, fights off man in Fife park
A woman fought off a potential rapist in a Fife park at the weekend.
by Claire WarrenderThe 25-year-old was left shaken and upset after she was pushed to the ground by a man who had been following her in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, on Sunday morning.
She struggled with him before he ran off.
Police say they are treating the incident at 6.20am as assault with intent to rape.
The man, described as being between 30 and 40, came from Pittencrieff Street before the attack and ran off in the general direction of the peacock sanctuary.
He is said to have been of average build, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in, with short dark hair.
He was wearing round, black glasses, dark clothing and dark running shoes.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan, based at Glenrothes, said: “The woman wasn’t seriously injured in this attack but she is extremely shaken and upset.
“We’re appealing to anyone who may recognise the description of the man or saw someone similar to that description in or around the park on Sunday morning to contact us.”
