Pitso: I Had Offers From South Africa…

by

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who last week signed a new bumper four-year contract to keep him at Chloorkop, has revealed he had “offers” from rival clubs in the Premier Soccer League.

He would not disclose the names of the teams that approached him in an attempt to lure him away from Sundowns, where his seven year stint appeared to be coming to an end with protracted negotiations to have his stay extended beyond June 30.

Mosimane, 55, has won nine trophies at Downs during that time – including four Absa Premiership titles.

“I had offers from here, from South Africa. I am not going to mention teams because some of the things are confidential. You talk to people, you get approached and you get humbled, but you don’t get distracted. We have to show respect,” Mosimane told journalists.

“But Steve Komphela said something: ‘don’t envy your neighbours’ because now they’ve got something. No, don’t envy the neighbours. Be happy with what you have and if you are, you will never look on the other side. I can’t swap your family and you can’t swap my family. What you have is what you have. Stay where you are loved, feel good and supported.”

He said he wants to try add another CAF Champions League winners’ medal to his collection having been able to clinch it in 2016.

“Let’s go back to the Champions League. Of course Al Ahly and Zamalek (both from Egypt) have got big budgets. They buy a player for €3-million from Europe, I mean really, where have you seen that? But we want it again.”
