Achievers in Konkani drama

The results of the Konkani Drama Competition organised by Kala Academy have been declared. The first place along with a cash prize of `1,00,000 is awarded to ‘Kasale Ani Ghosale’ staged by Atharva Ved, Altinho-Panaji. The second place along with a cash of `75,000 is awarded to ‘Suryaput’ staged by Athashree, Ponda. The third place along with a cash prize of `50,000 is awarded to ‘Hav Te Ani Toh’ staged by Shree Sai Digambar Krida Ani Saunskrutik Mandal, Assagao. Consolation prizes of `25,000 each are awarded to ‘The Concealed’ staged by Asth Creations, Pilgao-Bicholim and ‘Hav Savita’ staged by Madanant, Savoi-Verem.

The first place for best direction is awarded to Mayur Datta Mayekar for the play ‘Kasale Ani Ghosale’.  The second and third places in this category are awarded to Dilip Dessai for the play ‘Suryaput’ and Shivendra Tari for the play ‘Hav Te Ani Toh’.

In the male category, the first place for best acting is awarded to Ashvek Dessai for the role of Shridhar in the play ‘Hav Te Ani Toh’, while the second place is awarded to Nitin Kolvekar for the role of Sharad in the play ‘Hav Savita’. Merit certificates in this category are awarded to Gautam Bakhale for the role of Raghurai in the play ‘Suryaput’; Venkatesh Gaunekar for the role of Bajrang in the play ‘Suryaput’; Tulshidas Dhonshikar for the role of Pilku in the play ‘Aajun Kayach Javana’; Ashwesh Gimonkar for the role of Dhana in the play ‘Rakhan’; Rajesh Naik for the role of Sonu in the play ‘Suvari’; and Vaibhav Kavlekar for the role of Rangnath in the play ‘The Concealed’.

In the female category, the first place for best acting is awarded to Purti Sawardekar for the role of Manik in the play ‘Kasale Ani Ghosale’, while the second place is awarded to Aishwarya Nayar for the role of Sulochana in the play ‘The Concealed’. Merit certificates in this category are awarded to Nita Desai for the role of Yugandhara in the play ‘Suryaput’; Vruksha Karmali for the role of Kavya in the play ‘Logout’; Mamta Shirodkar for the role of Shaku in the play ‘Rakhan’; Nikita Naik for the role of Sailee in the play ‘He Sainatha’; Swati Shirsat for the role of Janati Ahilya in the play ‘Ahilya’; Sushma Mhamal for the role of Timay in the play ‘Bavli Ghar’; and Saundarya Mhalshi for the role of Tarabai in the play ‘Lakhatlo Ek Navro’. 

The award for best stage setup is won by Saidutt Kamat for the play ‘Logout’. The award for best light effects is won by Rohak Mangeshkar for the play ‘Suryaput’. The award for best costume is won by Manuja Lokur Narvekar for the play ‘Bavli Ghar’; while the merit certificate in the same category is awarded to Rupali Naik for the play ‘Suvari’. The award for best background music is won by Vinay Gawas for the play ‘The Concealed’. The award for best makeup award is won by Shri Teli Fadte for the play ‘Suvari’.

The first place in the scriptwriting category is awarded to Tanvi Bambolkar for the play ‘Logout’; while the second place in the same category is awarded to Prasad Kalangutkar for the play ‘Hav Te Ani Toh’. The award for the best script translation is won by Vasant Bhagwant Sawant for the play ‘Kasale Ani Ghosale’.

The competition was held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda. The total number of entries received was 20 out of which only 13 plays were selected to be staged. The panel of judges comprised Madhukar Joshi,  Rohidas Shirodkar and Laxmikant Shetgaonkar. The date for the prize distribution function will be declared at a later stage.
