Riverdale actors Lili Reinhart, 23, and Cole Sprouse, 27, have ended their relationship.

The couple - who first began dating in 2017 - have decided to call time on their pairing amid the coronavirus pandemic and have been isolating apart, reports claim.

Lili, who plays Betty in the Netflix teen drama alongside Cole, who plays Jughead, are said to still be pals despite the end of their romance.

A source told Page Six : "Cole and Lili split before the pandemic hit, and have been quarantining separately."

The insider added: "They remain good friends."

Last year reports emerged that the picture-perfect stars had broken up but Lili quickly took to social media to defend her relationship.

Hitting back at reports, she said on Twitter, “Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, kids. And news sources should try a little harder to be less vile. ‘Reliable sources’ can kiss my ass.”

The actors first sparked romance rumours in May 2017, when Cole shared a snap of Lili laying back in a field on Instagram.

When they first got together they refused to confirm or open up about their relationship for almost a year.

Cole told People magazine at the time: "Lili and I are constantly talked about in the public eye, and for me I think that it is being deeply informed by the love of the characters and wanting to see us together.

"I think that in many ways it’s offensive and an invasion of privacy, but it’s also a badge of honour because it means you’re creating a chemistry on-screen that is so understandable that people want to see it in real life, which is flattering from a professional perspective.”

Cole continued: "Because whether you dismiss those rumours or whether you encourage those rumours, it’s giving people who are in my opinion are a bit entitled to your personal life more power, and you have to have spaces for reverence in the industry.

"So I just never talk about it because it’s not anyone’s right to know.

"People can speculate all they want, people speculate about me with every member of the cast practically, but it’s really no one’s right to know. It’s also sexy, these parts of the relationships that are just yours."
