The ultimate grass cutting hack! ‘Genius’ chills on his swing while the lawnmower does all the work

by

This is the hilarious moment one householder found the perfect way to cut the lawn, without lifting a finger.

A driver in Marion, Indiana, was so impressed they stopped their car to film the lawnmower cutting the lawn apparently completely by itself.

It soon became clear that the mower was cutting the grass in an ever-diminishing circle as it was tied to a pole sunk into the lawn.

A 'genius' in Marion, Indiana, found a way to cut his lawn without having to do any work at all and sitting on his swing
The lawnmower was tied to a pole with some rope so that every time it circled the pole the rope shortened and directed it to parts of grass that was not cut  in the yard in Marion, Indiana

Every time the lawnmower does a circle around the pole the rope shortens, directing the lawnmower to fresh sections of grass to cut.

The bystander filming laughs to the unmanned householder and says: 'This is the funniest thing I have ever seen.'

She pans round to show the crafty householder taking it easy on his swing seat - with a large roll of rope next to him.

The filmer later commented: 'My first thought was my dad telling me to "work smarter not harder".

'Then I saw a man sitting on a swing under a tree just chilling.

'He was definitely doing just that. Pure genius.'

On average Americans spend four hours a week mowing their lawns, according to  research by agricultural and gardening retailer John Deere's Landscape Supply Company.

Automated lawnmowers that use battery-power to cut grass without an operator can cost up to $4,023.

It seems this householder found a great way to save both time and money.
