Jeremy Kyle 'shouldn't be allowed back on air' after death of guest, claims MP

An MP has claimed that Jeremy Kyle ‘shouldn’t be allowed back on air’ until he’s ‘held to account’ over the death of former guest Steve Dymond.

Jeremy has remained silent since The Jeremy Kyle Show was pulled off the air in May 2019 after guest Steve, 63, died by suicide when he failed a lie detector test on the show.

Mr Dymond was found dead in his home just days after appearing on the show leading to its immediate cancellation, sparking a huge debate about the programme’s aftercare procedure and moral compass.

In February, Jeremy’s representative confirmed the host was plotting his television comeback.

However, Conservative MP Damian Collins insists Jeremy should not return to the spotlight until a final report from the inquiry into Mr Dymond’s death is revealed.

‘Any decisions on whether to pick up on previous inquiries is up to the current select committee, but I would certainly like to see them produce a final report from the Reality TV inquiry,’ he began.

‘I don’t think Jeremy Kyle should be allowed back on air until he has been held to account for the practices of The Jeremy Kyle Show,’ he added to the Daily Star.

Thechair of the Digital, Culture, Media And Sport Committee wrote in The Guardian at the time: ‘I believe we need to formalise these powers and have a clear real-world sanction for those that refuse to comply with a request to provide evidence to a parliamentary committee.’

Following the announcement of Jeremy’s comeback, former guest Kane Manning told Metro.co.uk that ‘the damage has already been done’.

‘When I heard about it, I couldn’t believe it as it has come out of nowhere,’ Kane began.

‘He got all of that backlash before so he thought he’d have a break, but does he think he can come back and pretend nothing has happened? The damage has been done now and no one would ever trust what he says.’
