Man stabbed then arrested as police find Black Country cannabis farm

A cannabis factory was discovered in the Black Country after a suspected drugs farmer was stabbed.

Police found more than 120 cannabis plants at a house in Salisbury Road, Smethwick, after the man was stabbed last night.

Officers were alerted when the man arrived for treatment at hospital at around 8.30pm.

Four men are thought to have run away from the drugs factory when police arrived.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of producing drugs after a cannabis factory was found at a property in Salisbury Road, Smethwick yesterday evening.

"Officers visited the address during enquiries after the man attended hospital at around 8.30pm yesterday with a stab wound. He was treated and discharged.

"Four men are believed to have fled from the house as officers arrived and more than 120 cannabis plants were found inside.

"The 21-year-old man today remains in custody for questioning and enquiries are continuing.
