Adidas launch face masks to help protect against coronavirus

Adidas have launched face masks aimed to help safeguard against the threat of coronavirus.

The sportswear giant have released the protective gear as part of their #hometeam initiative, which is aiming to "keep bodies, hearts and minds healthy".

Made with adidas Primegreen - a high performance recycled fabric - the reusable face covers have been manufactured to help "fight the effects of lockdown with creativity".

The masks come with two holes positioned so you can loop them over each ear, enabling the mask to wrap around your chin, covering your mouth and nose.

An official Adidas press release stated: "As lockdown measures begin to gradually ease up and we look to leaving our homes to reconnect with our teammates, we want to help."

Adding of the masks: "The soft, breathable cloth adapts to your face for comfort during any activity.

"Whilst not medically graded, it’s designed to help prevent the spread of transmissible viruses and germs, to help protect those around you."

The masks will initially be available across Europe, North America and China, with further areas set to added in due course.

Not only that but £2 from every pack of three masks purchased is donated to Save The Children’s Global Coronavirus Response Fund, running until June 30.

The Save the Children’s Global Coronavirus Response Fund helps to save lives through prevention and containing the pandemic.

In particular the charity aims to support families coping with economic hardship, as well as assist children, teachers and parents with home-schooling and back to school programs; and to protect children who are in danger of domestic violence, abuse or neglect.

Various sportsmen have been seen donning their own face masks, especially in Germany, where the Bundesliga is already back under way.

Expect to see plenty of Adidas' own face masks worn by athletes signed to the brand in the coming weeks.
