Two men were left with gaping slash wounds after allegedly getting involved in a knife fight inside a Paisley flat.

Emergency crews rushed to Dundonald Road, in the Gallowhill area, to reports two men had sustained gruesome injuries at around 11.20pm on
Thursday.

Cops are probing the violent incident which left both men covered in blood.

It is understood a fight broke out within the property after a falling out among friends.

A 17-year-old man suffered two large gashes to his leg and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received ten stitches and was later
released.

It is claimed a 33-year-old man suffered a slash wound above his eyebrow in the alleged scrap.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics who fixed up the large gash.

Detectives are treating the incident as serious assault and are carrying out a range of enquires in the area.

It’s understood they are quizzing potential witnesses and checking CCTV.

A forensic examination of the flat was also carried out by specialist officers.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Emergency services responded to reports of two injured men within a flat in Dundonald Road, Paisley at around 11.20pm on Thursday.

“A 17-year-old man was treated for leg injuries at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley while a 33-year-old man was treated at the scene for a head wound.

“Police are now investigating and our enquiries are  ongoing.

“We will be speaking to potential witnesses as part of our investigation.

“If you have any information about the incident we would urge you to get in touch with police.”

The spokeswoman confirmed both men had been charged over the alleged incident and a report had been sent to the procurator fiscal.
