Billed as the official companion to the hit drama series in which a Second World War nurse is transported to Highland Scotland in 1743, the second book in the series - Outlander Kitchen 2: To the New World and Back Again - is now due out on June 2.

With 100 new easy-to-prepare recipes, the second book features recipes inspired by the New World in the show with dishes such as Mrs. Figg's Flapjacks, Claire's Beans and Sass and John Grey's Yorkshire Pudding.

Speaking about the new book, Theresa said: "The later novels in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series and the Lord John Grey series have Jamie, Claire, Lord John, and friends embark on their revolutionary adventures across the Atlantic and back again - and with their voyages come hundreds of new mouthwatering flavors to entice the taste buds of even the most discerning palates."

The first cookbook explored recipes from the books and the first few seasons of the show.

Food lover Theresa added that the new book will have a mix of authentic old-world recipes from Scottish settlers and new-world adaptations inspired by the cuisine of indigenous peoples, as well as humorous character-inspired dishes.

First inspired to begin writing in 2011, the food writer said she sent a request to publish her first recipe, along with a short, five-question, food-related interview to Diana Gabaldon’s Canadian publicist.

Outlander Kitchen then grew out of that first email, and Diana’s generous response the next day.

She has previously stated that the message behind her first book was not just highlighting the beauty of Scottish fare, but also getting people into the kitchen and making great food, be that with Scottish recipes or otherwise, she said: “Beyond bringing fictional food to life, my biggest thrill with Outlander Kitchen has been getting fans back in the kitchen, cooking from scratch. And while many of Outlander Kitchen’s most popular recipes are traditional Scottish staples such as Brianna’s Bridies, Shepherd’s Pie, and Scotch Eggs, many more are inspired from across the globe, following the geographical and time travels of the Frasers and their descendants.

“Outlander Kitchen is so much more than just merchandise; it is a creative collection of tested, doable recipes from the past and present that encourages book and TV fans to cook alongside their favourite fictional characters for company.”
