by David RosenbergSwedish furniture giant IKEA’s Israel franchise has opened its sixth branch, with a new store in the Beit Shemesh area west of Jerusalem.
The new store, located in the town of Eshtaol, just north of Beit Shemesh and about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of the capital, spans more than 25,000 square meters (269,100 square feet), with 39 presentation halls showcasing some 8,000 products. The new facility cost some 390 million shekels ($111 million).
IKEA’s new branch is the companies fifth full-fledge store, with locations in Netanya, Rishon Letzion, Kiryat Ata, and Beer Sheva. A sixth store, focusing on kitchens, operates in Tel Aviv.
According to a report by Globes, the new IKEA store employees some 380 people, and includes a parking lot with almost 900 spaces.
