Random: Sonic Boom Won't Be Returning, According To Television Show's Executive Producer
"There will be no season three"
by Liam DoolanOne chapter in blue blur's history most fans would rather forget about is Sonic Boom. Although it was considered to be a low point for Sega's long-time mascot, there are some people out there who have been wondering what's happened to the computer-animated CGI television series of the same name.
In a recent Sonic Reddit AMA, Sega Chief Brand Officer Ivo Gerscovich suggested the plan was to keep the Sonic Boom television show "airing" but now the executive producer Bill Freiberger has stamped out any hope of a third season comeback on Twitter with the following message:
And for those wondering what Ivo's comment about Sega not having any plans "at the moment" for a new Sonic Boom television series or video game might mean, here is Freiberger's interpretation:
in business there's no advantage to completely slamming the door shut, even if you never ever plan to go through it again.
In other words, Sega isn't going to tell fans it's completely done with this sub-series of Sonic, even if it has no intention of returning to it. The most recent new episodes of Sonic Boom aired in 2017, and the last major video game releases in this series were made available on the Wii U and 3DS.
