Watch: Ashok Chavan Waves At Supporters As He Takes Ambulance To Head To Mumbai For COVID-19 Treatment

by

Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ashok Chavan on Monday (25 May) left for Mumbai from Nanded to get treated for COVID-19 after he was tested positive for the virus on Sunday night.

Former state chief minister (CM) was seen waving at his supporters in Nanded before departing in a cardiac ambulance. He is expected to reach Mumbai by the night via road as it was reported that he could not get permission for an air ambulance.

The security personnel kept the people away from the Minister when some supporters tried to get close to him.

Although the senior Congress leader has been diagnosed as an asymptomatic patient, he received treatment at a private hospital in Nanded for the night.

Chavan is the second Minister from CM Uddhav Thackeray’s Cabinet who has been tested positive for coronavirus.

Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad had also been infected with the virus last month. He has now been completely cured of COVID-19 and discharged after almost a month-long treatment.
