DDGBA questions delay in setting up BSL-3 Lab in Dimapur
Dimapur, May 25: Supporting the fact findings of NGBF (Nagaland GB’s Federation), the Dimapur District GBs Association (DDGBA) also questioned the logic in delaying the installation of Biosafety Level-3 (BSL-3) laboratory in Dimapur, which is otherwise the top most priority, considering the threat that is being caused by the COVID-19, and also Dimapur being the only commercial hub of the State and the gateway to connecting other neighbouring States.
The DDGBA said it is very much apprehensive because of this delay and lackadaisical attitude, as no one knows how many threats would go undetected and as a result people are being exposed to this impeding and imminent danger.
It urged the Government to address this issue at the earliest and without any further delay
In a press release, DDGBA president, Khehovi V Chopi and general secretary, L Ponghok Phom also expressed dissatisfaction in the Government’s handling of the citizens stranded outside.
However, it appreciated the Government’s offer to grant one time ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 but said the amount is not even near enough considering the effect of lockdown, where essential commodities are hitting sky high especially for those people living in the fast lane of metro cities.
It urged the Government to initiate more exigency programmes for further assistance and aid and also address their grievances in the coming days.
The DDGBA also wondered how the state Government is prepared to tackle and combat the situation if COVID-19 cases are detected in the state.
The DDGBA also appealed to all those returning home to follow the Government’s protocol and criterion to go through ‘Mandatory Quarantine’ period and also for further instructions. (Page News Service)
