How to create a Telegram account

Telegram is a non-profit company that provides a messaging app called Telegram. This app is free and is popular because it is fast, simple, secure, and available on several major platforms like Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Linux, Chrome, etc. In addition to messaging, it allows the sharing of photos, videos, and other files up to 1.5 GB each. The basic difference between Telegram and WhatsApp is that Telegram is a cloud-based app i.e. you can access the messages of your Telegram account on several devices simultaneously. Installing the app

Before you can create an account on Telegram, you need to download and install the Telegram app. If you use an Android device, you will have to go to the Google Play Store to install the Telegram app. For iOS users, they need to go to the Apple App Store and install the app. In case you want to install the Telegram app on the Windows, Mac, or Linux, then you need to go to the Telegram website at https://desktop.telegram.org/. For downloading and installing the Telegram app on any other platform, go to https://telegram.org/apps. Once you have downloaded and installed the Telegram app, you are ready to create an account on Telegram.

Verifying phone number

First of all, open the Telegram app which you have downloaded and installed on your device. When the Telegram app opens, you will be able to see the welcome screen of the Telegram app inviting you to create an account. What you need to do here is tap/click on the ‘start messaging’ option. This will open a new page on the app where it will ask you to enter your phone number. To enter it, first, you will have to choose your country in the first text box. What this will do is, it will automatically enter the country code in the next text box. So, you will now have to enter your phone number in the last text box. After entering your phone number, tap on the ‘next’ button. Telegram will now send a verification code to the phone number you provided. Get this verification code from the phone message you received from Telegram and then type this verification code in the text box asking for the code and then tap the ‘next’ option when you are done typing the verification code. You must keep in mind that you should not share this verification code with anyone ever. This is for security reasons.

You should know that the phone number that you have to provide in this step of creating a Telegram account, need not be your phone number because you only need this phone number for the purpose of creating the account. So, you can borrow someone else’s phone number for the purpose of verification (which takes 2 minutes at most) only as well if that person does not use Telegram and is not likely to use it in the future too.

Final step

Now, that you have verified your phone number on the Telegram app in the process of creating your Telegram account, the final step is very simple. What remains to be done now is just entering your first name and last name with which you want to use the Telegram app. So, enter your full name here and then tap on the tick-mark icon located in the top-right corner of the app screen. You are now done creating the Telegram account.
