Update: Patrick Ewing Released from Hospital After COVID-19 Scare

News recently broke that Patrick Ewing was hospitalized due to reportedly contracting coronavirus. Ewing tweeted about COVID-19, saying “This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly. I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.” Now, Patrick Ewing’s son—Patrick Ewing Jr. gave an update on the well-being of his father.
Via Twitter, Patrick Ewing’s son said his dad was released from the hospital and that he is resting. Ewing Jr. said “My father is now home and getting better. We’ll continue to watch his symptoms and follow the CDC guidelines. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and protect yourselves and your loved ones.

Georgetown Men's basketball head coach and NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus. Ewing announced his diagnosis on Twitter Friday afternoon. “This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly,” Ewing tweeted. “I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Now more than ever, I want to thank healthcare workers and everyone on the front lines. I’ll be fine and we will all get through this.”
Patrick Ewing was a national standout at Georgetown University in the 1980s before going No. 1 in the 1985 NBA Draft. He went onto have a stellar professional career with the New York Knicks where he was named an All-Star eleven times during his 15 years with the Knicks (Ewing also had brief stints with the Orlando Magic and Seattle SuperSonics). Ewing returned to his alma mater as head coach at the start of the 2017-18 season. The Hoyas have an overall record of 49-46 under Ewing's direction.
