Alyssa Milano defends herself as trolls slam her 'useless' crochet mask

Alyssa Milano was forced to defend herself after trolls slammed her for wearing a ‘useless’ crochet mask.

The Charmed actress was called a ‘special kind of stupid’ as some of her detractors assumed her homemade mask did not have any filters because of its open-weave design.

‘So knitted face mask are going to protect you from Covid-19 Alyssa Milano you are a special kind of stupid #alyssamilano,’ the original tweet read.

However, Alyssa, 47, had no time for nitpickers and responded to the online abuse.

‘Mask has a filter in it for f**k’s sake,’ she quote tweeted the troll.

‘A carbon one. My mom makes them.#WearAMask.’

The trolling came after the Ameican actress shared a picture of herself wearing the mask alongside her family on Twitter, along with the caption: ‘Show me your masks! Masks keep people safe and healthy. Show me yours! Ready? Go! #WearAMask.’

‘A**holes, mask has a carbon filter in it,’ she reassured everyone in a follow-up tweet.. ‘So, yes, it might be crochet but totally safe. #WearAMask.’

The star went as far as sharing a screenshot of the 100 pack of filters she had purchased online to ensure full protection amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, fans didn’t believe Alyssa as they claimed they could still see her skin through the mask.

‘Then why can’t we see it in there?’ one person stated. ‘If there was a carbon filter like the one you showed we should be able to see it through the weave.

‘Also, the filter needs to fit your face the way the mask does in order to be effective, which the shape doesn’t suggest it does.’

Another said: ‘Prove it, because it sure looks like your nose and mouth when you zoom in.’

‘You can see your skin through the holes,’ one user pointed out. ‘I don’t think you have any inserts.’

At the time of writing, there have been nearly 1.7 million cases of coronavirus in the USA and more than 99,000 deaths.
