Emmerdale denies claims that some staff won't have same safety measures on set

by

Emmerdale has cleared up claims that only cast members and certain crew would have access to temperature checks on the return to filming.

Reports have circulated that an email from the boss of soaps and continuing drama at ITV, John Whiston, sent round an email about safety precautions while filming now that the soap is back in production.

One of these included temperature checks for people entering and exiting the building but there was reportedly a suggestion that it ‘might not be the same for everyone.’

A source told The Mirror: ‘People were very p***ed off. You can tell who the golden folk are.

‘We just have to doff our caps as the stars come in. It’s daft. They all still have to use the same door handles as us to get in the building – but if we’ve got it, tough.’

However, when contacted by Metro.co.uk, Emmerdale clarified that all staff who use the building will have access to temperature checks.

They commented: ‘All colleagues at ITV Yorkshire can have their temperatures checked as they enter the building.’

Emmerdale has only been back filming a week and are evolving their procedures in line with the ever changing advice, guidance and circumstances of COVID-19.

It is understood that they will regularly be in touch with all staff using the building to ensure the safety is a priority as production continues to open up.

At the moment, Emmerdale is filming two hander episodes to reflect what lockdown has been like for characters.

The episodes are expected to air from Monday 8 June after previously filmed editions of the soap run out.

This will leave Emmerdale on air for at least a further two weeks although it is yet to be announced what will be happening beyond that.
