Coleen Nolan 'let down' by Dominic Cummings but thinks he should keep his job

Coleen Nolan ‘feels let down’ by Dominic Cummings after he allegedly broke lockdown restrictions.

The presenter felt it was ‘unjust and unfair’ the prime minister’s senior aide travelled to Durham after his wife began experiencing coronavirus symptoms.

However she doesn’t feel he should lose his job over what she called ‘a mistake’.

Speaking on Monday’s Loose Women, Coleen said: ‘We’ve all had to make sacrifices, especially those people whose parents or children are ill and you’re not allowed to see them.

‘It has made me feel let down. I was trying to be fair initially and thought, maybe he was just panicking.

‘But there’s loads of people going through that and we can’t all drive 200-odd miles away because we’ve been told we’re not allowed. It’s unjust and unfair, two things I can’t stand.’

She went on: ‘Boris Johnson could have taken the heat away by just admitting what he did was wrong and just apologise.

‘I don’t want anyone to lose their job over a mistake which we’re all capable of making, but just hold your hand up and apologise.’

Jane Moore weighed in to say she felt the prime minister had ‘made a bit of a mistake’ with his comments on Sunday.

She said: ‘He needs to come out and say, “it was a mistake, we’ve had stern words but we’re not going to sack him over this”. Let’s carry on.

‘It’s not the situation, it’s the cover-up. No one is clear on why he seemingly broke the advice.’

Mr Cummings is due to give a statement later on today about the incident, which emerged over the weekend.

He is also alleged to have broken lockdown restrictions to visit Barnard Castle, 30 miles away from his parents’ home, on April 12.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
