Whopping 805 test positive for Covid-19 in TN, 549 in Chennai alone

Chennai: The total number of coronavirus infections in Tamilnadu has crossed 17,000, after a whopping number of 805 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the State today.

Revealing this to the media here this evening, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said, ‘with the latest spike, the number of persons affected by the pandemic in Tamilnadu rose from 16,277 to 17,082.’

He said 549 have been tested positive in Chennai alone, taking the numbers in the metropolis to 11,125. With 407 patients getting discharged from hospitals today after recovery, the total number of recovered persons in the State has touched 8,731.

According to the Minister, 4,21,480 samples have been tested so far and aggressive testing is being continued. Seven persons have lost their lives today. Flight services were started in Tamilnadu today, while many industrial estates were opened for work.
