Mayambela Chiefs Talk: 'He Played For A Big Team Before Pirates'
by Soccer LadumaFollowing some speculation in recent weeks about Mark ‘Professor’ Mayambela and Kaizer Chiefs, after the skilful midfielder reiterated his dream of playing for the Soweto giants, the Khayelitsha-born player has been encouraged to remain positive in his search for a club.
Mayambela, 32, has been unattached since parting ways with Cape Town City in January, and in encouraging him fellow Capetonian Mkhanyiseli ‘Makalegs’ Siwahla says he should remain positive and be grateful that he has already played for Chiefs’ rivals, Orlando Pirates in his career.

“He played for a big team before so he knows what to expect. He got a taste of what is happening at a big club. It’s not like talking about something he has no idea about. When you talk about Kaizer Chiefs, you talk about a club he has an idea about. Unlike for me, if I were talk about Kaizer Chiefs I would think about when I was in the national team in imagining how it might be like. When I played in the national team I felt like I could play for a big team too,” said Siwahla.
Mayambela grew up supporting Amakhosi and admired the club’s legends such as Doctor Khumalo and Thabo Mooki, among others.

“So, as someone who played for Pirates, that’s a blessing man, and he must just take it that he is blessed. He must count his blessings because Orlando Pirates is one of the big clubs in Africa,” Siwahla added.
Apart from his Chiefs dream, Mayambela is known to also be keen on playing for Bloemfontein Celtic – the team he turned out for between 2007 and 2010 – before securing a move to Orlando Pirates after the historic FIFA World Cup in Mzansi.
